Tasty Blend Foods expansion grand opening in Putnam County June 14

Food manufacturer’s $3 million expansion creates 20 new jobs, adds new product production line

FRAZIERS BOTTOM, W.Va. – Tasty Blend Foods celebrated the completion of its expansion facility in Putnam County June 14 with a private reception. Construction began October 2018. The facility is expected to be fully operational by July 2019.

Tasty Blend Foods manufactures dry mixes and bakery goods.

“Tasty Blend opened its doors in West Virginia in 1987,” said Gov. Jim Justice. “While we work hard to bring new businesses to West Virginia, I’m proud to say we work just as hard to help our existing businesses expand and thrive.”

This expanded operation follows Tasty Blend’s acquisition of Snak-Time Foods Corporation, moving the Snak-Time line of breakfast sandwiches and biscuits to West Virginia. The $3 million expansion adds 22,000 square feet to the facility’s existing 48,000 square feet and adds a new production line. Tasty Blend will add 20 new jobs to its current workforce of 45.

“By bringing Snak-Time Foods to West Virginia, we can provide top quality products and service the needs of our foodservice and retail customers with true made-in-West-Virginia products,” said Tasty Blend President Roy Elswick. “Also, we can provide the West Virginia school systems with quality and the sandwiches with the made-from-scratch taste. This is a win/win for Tasty Blend and the State of West Virginia.“

“When I first joined the Department of Commerce, I said we need to recognize the successes of our existing businesses in West Virginia,” said Secretary of Commerce Ed Gaunch. “This occasion gives us the opportunity to applaud Tasty Blend as a thriving member of our business community and to join in celebrating its growth.”

“One ingredient in this successful effort is the teamwork that made it possible,” said Executive Director Michael Graney, West Virginia West Virginia Department of Economic Development. “I congratulate the leaders of Tasty Blend who worked closely with the West Virginia Department of Economic Development, the West Virginia Economic Development Authority and the Putnam County Development Authority throughout the expansion process.”
