KCI Aviation began fixed base operations (FBO) at the North Central West Virginia airport (CKB) in Bridgeport, WV in 1985. In 2007 the company shifted its core business to support corporate aviation. KCI now dedicates itself to these airframes and the turbine engines that power them.

The Fairmont State University Aviation Center of Excellence (ACE) is the only FAA approved CFR Part 141 Program in the State of West Virginia. Students admitted to this selective program have the opportunity to gain a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology with degree options in either professional flight or aviation management.
