Building digital identity solutions in #YESWV

The West Virginia Digital Identity Tech Hub (WVDITH) will lead the development of next-generation, trusted digital identity solutions critical to U.S. economic growth and national security.

The WVDITH is dedicated to establishing West Virginia as a national leader in digital identity solutions while driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and enhancing the quality of life for residents through secure and equitable digital identity technologies.

Digital Identity is …

the identifiable data of a person, organization, nation, application or device
the unique credentials used to authenticate a person, organization, application, or device in an online environment, and encompasses
the technical infrastructure required to create, safely store, and responsibly utilize both the data and the credentials

This is vital to global security, because…

There are high-stakes risks with cybersecurity implications for national security, critical infrastructure, health records, financial transactions, and much more. The benefit from enhancing the existing biosecurity in West Virginia will pay dividends. It is estimated that digital identification will reduce fraud and increase sales of goods and services while increasing employment and labor productivity.

Our Mission

To expand and diversify West Virginia’s economy by becoming a regional technology hub for digital identity. We aim to create solutions that protect privacy, ensure accessibility, and enhance interconnectivity, positioning the United States as a global leader in principled digital identity.

Our Vision

West Virginia aims to be the leading environment for businesses, regulators, and academia to develop secure, privacy-preserving, consent-based digital identity solutions that combat fraud, exclusion, inequity, and inefficiencies.

What is the TechHUB?

The West Virginia Department of Economic Development has developed an application that will bring together a consortium to build this technology ecosystem and will leverage West Virginia’s assets and resources to lead and address critical national
security concerns.
